Lyrics

I was ten years old and I and remember it well
It was 1963
Chevy's and Ford's were the cars of the days
but that didn't interest me
I was too young for girls
Too old for toys
and I still couldn't get in the bars
and the only thing I wanted on my Christmas list was a Fender Telecaster Guitar

It was four years later when I made that call that changed my life for good
It was a guitar for sale with a cord and a strap and it was made out of auburn wood
He said he'd drive it right over if I had a hundred dollars and he showed up in a beat up car
and when we opened the case, it put a smile on my face
It was a Fender Telecaster Guitar

It was Lake Placid blue with a rosewood neck and it fit real good in my hands
I played every night and I played everyday till I was good enough to join with a band
We played for parties and we played for fun
Finally got a gig in a bar
And when we took that stage, I turned the volume up on my Fender Telecaster Guitar

It was Lake Placid blue with a rosewood neck and it fit real good in my hands
I played every night and I played everyday till I was good enough to join in a band
We played for parties and we played for fun
Finally got a gig in a bar
And when I took that stage, I turned the volume way up on my Fender Telecaster Guitar

Well since that time I've made a lot of friends, most of them play guitar
They play Teles and Strats, Gretschs and Pauls, some of them are big time stars
But no matter the music or the style they play, makes no difference who they are
Well it all sounds better if they can play it faster on a Fender Telecaster Guitar
